The Copthorne Hotel
This building was extensively damaged during the September 2010 earthquake. The damage was essentially non structural and we were engaged to repair the 10 storey hotel as quickly as possible to allow the hotel to reopen and continue its operation.
Our work involved stripping the entire building back to the framing and replacing or repairing the interior.
In February 2011, prior to the earthquake we were one week from completing the last floors of the hotel. The hotel was operating from the lower 6 floors, following the earlier handover of these floors. Unfortunately the building did not survive the February 2011 earthquake and was later demolished.
The value of the repair work was approximately $4.5 million.
This was a fast track well co-ordinated project. Our Project Manager on this building was Michael Thompson.
